Breaking the silence.

Hello loves!

We love the relationship we have with you guys because we feel like we can tell you everything that’s going on in our lives and have you guys understand it fully. You have probably been wondering why we have sort of gone “quiet” lately.

Well, a week before Christmas, our lives were turned upside down. We were informed that our label, Collective Sounds, would be shutting down at the beginning of 2014, and everyone on our team, the people who we love so dearly, would no longer be working at The Collective. If you have seen any of our tweets lately, you probably are now putting the pieces into place. We were heartbroken on so many levels. We felt scared, terrified actually. This label who we’ve been sheltered by and taken care of for nearly three years would no longer be a label. We were sad about it and still are very nostalgic about the whole process. We cried for a solid amount of time and let ourselves be sad about it, but we picked ourselves up and now we’re moving forward.

You may have already guessed that one of the most immediate outcomes of our label shutting down is that our very first album, “Look What You Started,” was not released in February as we had planned. As disappointing as this development seemed at first, we now realize that it allows us the freedom to create music that we feel truly captures the “Megan & Liz” sound. AKA, two girls, harmony, and the guitar.

Some of you may know that we recently moved back to Nashville from LA. Nashville is where our hearts are and where our music is. It’s always been so obvious to us when we sit down and write with just the two of us. Songs like “Like I Would,” “Back Home,” and “In the Shadows Tonight” really are “Megan & Liz.” We think all of you pick up on that because it feels to us like those are the songs that resonate with you the most. Even some of our older co-written songs like “Need Your Poison” or “Are You Happy Now,” are the Megan & Liz we want to be.

We’re SOOOO excited that Billboard has agreed to share our new song “Simple Life” with you guys here: http://bit.ly/1f4kTVI

…. and YES. NEW EP COMING REAAAAAL SOON.

So to sum it all up, a lot has happened in the past few months. Life took a drastic change that we couldn’t really predict. It’s scary and exciting. We’re so disappointed to not be putting a record out, and seeing your tweets/tumblr posts etc. over the last few months has been heartbreaking, but we’re finally allowed to break the silence and let you know what is happening.

We’re moving forward with our career in the direction that feels right. We love all of you so much and we always have. 2014 is going to be very exciting for many reasons, and we can’t wait to have you on this new journey with us. You guys are always there for us no matter what, and we can’t ever put into words how incredible that support feels. It’s like, no matter what storm we walk through, we have a bunch of umbrellas to keep us dry. So, thank you. 🙂

We love you to Pluto & back

Always have, always will.

xo Megan & Liz
